May Time, is Me Time.

May Time is Me Time

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9th. May is also International Mental Health Awareness Month. This month Über Moms will be discussing the topic, “Your Mind. Your Health”. As a part of our mission to encourage mothers to live a healthy and active life for themselves and their families, we have created a 30 day fitness challenge. We’re thrilled to announce our health and fitness challenge for the month of May. It will be like many of our other challenges, but with a twist, each team receives points for active movement as well as self-care. No moms, we don’t mean a hot shower--we mean MOMents. We coined that phrase to determine the difference between defining self-care as the time you decided to listen to an audio book for Über Moms Book Club, while washing dishes, and actually taking time to read, without doing anything else concurrent. A MOMent is a specific time dedicated to the wellbeing of your mental and physical health. This does not include motherly duties.

For the entire month of May, we are forming teams of moms, members and non-members to challenge one another to take ‘me time’.

Our aim is to

  • Keeping moving

  • Get outdoors

  • Remind moms to take a break

  • Enjoy Über MOMents

  • Share your wins in a group setting

  • Incorporate fitness, self-care and MOMents without feeling guilty or stressed

Who can take part? - It is open to all Über Moms and Non-Members who have signed up for a free month membership.

Teams - It will be a team challenge, the teams will be small. Each team member will be able to earn points and report their points on a weekly basis. As we are all going to blossom during this challenge each team will be named after flowers seen in May.

 Points - "Every minute counts":

Every day you can earn up to 4 points. You just need to keep a tally each week of how many you earn and report them each Friday evening.

To earn a point you need to complete a minimum of 15mins in one of the following 4 fields:

Running, HIIT/Cardio, LIT and Non active MOMents*:

To get the max 4 points in a day you would therefore need to do a minimum of 15mins:

  • Running (fast walking can also count but not a stroll to the shops)

  • HIIT / Cardio (biking, swimming, HIIT workout etc etc)

  • LIT (Low Intensity Training (inc. yoga, pilates, strength and walking)

  • Non sport MOMent*

*MOMents: reading, meditation, listening to music etc BUT it has to be conscious me time. Listening to the radio whilst haring around the kitchen prepping dinner; hoovering listening to iPod shuffle; taking a shower DO NOT count these are everyday activities. Shutting yourself in your bedroom to listen to an Elgar Cello piece for 20mins and ignoring WWIII downstairs DOES count. - It needs to fulfil or relax you in some way.

There is no maximum time to spend on any one field, so a 15min run or a 2 hour run will earn 1 point. The aim is to keep or get us moving.

Additional points - This would not be an Über Mom challenge if we didn’t give you ways to top up those points! Each team can add points by

Regularly sharing their wins - points will be awarded to teams where each team member has posted an activity or win at least twice in the challenge channel on Über Moms Discord or posted on IG tagging Ueber_mom and #maytimeismetime.

Completion of surprise challenges - these will be posted throughout the month of May so keep an eye on the Discord Channel and IG.
